Angled Ioniq 5 vs elegant EV6

by 인생오십년 2021. 4. 1.

From left, Kia EV6, Hyundai Ioniq 5 The two cars have the same platform, but they look completely different. The IONIC 5 is an angular shape that emphasizes a square based on a'parametric pixel', and the EV6 features a smooth line that considers aerodynamic performance. Ionic 5 has a character line that extends in a straight line based on a silhouette that started with a pony. The tail lights that extend from side to side emphasize the low and wide ratio. Parametric pixels are applied to headlights, taillights, wheels, and electric charging ports to complete a future-oriented image.

On the other hand, EV6 features a'digital tiger face' that reinterprets the existing Kia Motors design identity, the Tiger nose, to fit the image of an electric vehicle. Combined with daytime running lights, it gives off a more agile impression. A unique line is applied from the lower side of the side to the tail lamp through the rear wheelhouse, and the tail lamp also acts as a spoiler. The EV6 also has a GT line and a high-performance GT model that has differentiated its design. Dedicated design parts, such as the front bumper and 21-inch performance wheel, are applied to reveal a strong presence. As for the design, the EV6 looks a little more popular. As a result of conducting a survey through SNS channels such as Motorgraph YouTube community, Instagram, and Facebook for about 7 hours from 9 am to 4 pm on the 15th of last month, 3662 (60.6%) out of a total of 6047 people used EV6. I have chosen.

EV6 GT

The EV6 and Ioniq 5 standard models are equipped with electric motors of the same specifications. The standard trim 2WD model has a 125kW electric motor mounted on the rear axle, and the 4WD model has a combined output of 173kW with motors mounted on the front and rear axles respectively. The difference in performance between the two vehicles is from the long-range model. Ioniq 5 Long Range 2WD is equipped with 160kW and 4WD is equipped with 225kW electric motors, while EV6 Long Range is equipped with 2WD 168kW and 4WD 239kW. Moreover, the EV6 is also equipped with a high-performance GT model. The EV6 GT is only available for all-wheel drive models and has a maximum output of 430kW (about 584 horsepower) and a maximum torque of 740Nm (about 75.5kgf·m). It reaches 100 km/h from standstill in just 3.5 seconds, and the top speed is limited to 260 km/h. This is the fastest acceleration ability among all-time domestic cars. As the EV6 GT aims for high performance, it is equipped with a software-based electronic differential limiting function (e-LSD), electronic control suspension (ECS), 21-inch performance wheels & tires, and large-capacity disc brakes to provide excellent performance even in extreme driving situations. It is added to increase the enjoyment of driving.

Kia Motors was particularly confident about the EV6's mileage. On this day, Kia Motors announced that the distance that can be run on a single charge based on the EV6 long-range rear-wheel drive model exceeds 510km (based on WLTP). Compared to the WLTP standard mileage (470~480km) that was unveiled at the time of the Ionic 5 announcement, it is about 40~50km long. The mileage measured according to domestic standards is 450km. Compared to the domestic standard mileage (410~430km) that was released at the time of the Ionic 5 announcement, you can see a much longer figure. Despite the higher EV6 output, it is analyzed that the reason why the driving range is longer than the Ionik 5 is due to the difference in battery capacity. The battery capacity of the Ioniq 5 is 72.6kW based on the long-range model, but the EV6 is 77.4kW, which is about 6.1% larger.

Ioniq 5 has ample interior space based on a wide wheelbase of 3000mm. The EV6 has a shorter wheelbase (2900mm) and has more limited interior space due to its sleek design. In addition, the universal island is applied to the center console of the existing internal combustion engine, so it can be moved back and forth up to 140mm. Through this, the center console can be used by passengers in the second row, and efficient storage is also possible, such as placing a bag at the bottom by dividing it up and down. In addition, a two-row electric sliding seat was applied to the IONIQ 5. This sheet can be moved forward up to 135mm, so it can be used in various ways as a space for rest, work, and leisure.

In addition, Ioniq 5 offers a digital side mirror as an option, unlike EV6. The digital side mirror applied to the Ioniq 5 for the first time by Hyundai Motors significantly reduced blind spots by replacing the general mirror with a camera and monitor. Overall, while EV6 paid attention to design, performance, and mileage, Ioniq 5 was focused on interior space, the latest technologies, and detailed options. Ioniq 5 is expected to ship full-scale vehicles from April as early as April, and EV6 is expected to be delivered to customers in the second half of the year.
