7 fun ways to write lines

by 인생오십년 2021. 5. 18.

1. opposite lines

The line "I was sad when that person said we wanted to break up" becomes a line of psychological description by expressing one's own thoughts. In addition, the line "A man like a father is standing in front of the house right now" is the line that explains the incident. These are general lines that convey one's feelings or events to the viewer as they are. However, the opposite line is the one who speaks the opposite way, expressing the feeling of the person who spoke. The human form of expression is very complex. Not all people express themselves honestly. Children can honestly express or explain their feelings, As an adult, because of rumors, or because of shame, In terms of censure, I am sympathetic, and I cannot be honest in order to do various social life. This is something we all fully experience in our daily lives.

If so, how should it be expressed? For example, even if there is someone he likes, he doesn't say "I like you." Sometimes, saying "I really hate things like you" may be an expression of liking. I think there are a lot of such expressions in drama. If you say "I'm a gangster", you're like a good person on the contrary, If you say "I am a good person", will you take it at face value as a really good person? Probably not By using these words and psychological actions to speak in the opposite direction The line that informs the audience of the true sound is called the opposite line. If used well in a drama, it becomes a line with a lingering effect and a line with an implication. Therefore, first of all, I hope you will fully ponder the sayings such as the saying'A ambassador is a lie'.

2.Hidden lines

Hiding the dialogue is a kind of indirect expression. In a visual drama, the combination of this hidden dialogue and video is selected as the first condition to become a high-class drama. To explain for example, there is a husband who is penniless now, but whose salary is on the 20th. Husband "Honey, how much do you have?" Wife "What money do you have for paycheck?" Husband "Oh, there are still five days left..." This is a normal line. However, if you express this metabolic situation with hidden lines, Probably something like this: Wife "We were supposed to watch a play? Or a movie..." Husband "Honey, do you have any money now?" Wife "Who is right now? (Puts a finger) Today is the 17th and tomorrow is the 18th This is from the drama'Paper Balloon', It doesn't say everything in the authentic way, but indirectly talks about the payday that will come, Still, clearly indicating the situation It is sublimated from a line that simply informs to a line that makes you feel.

3. Abbreviated lines

In everyday life, it is common sense to answer when someone asks. If you don’t answer the questions since childhood, "Why don't you answer me?" Perhaps that is why we are mistaken for answering very sincerely to what we ask. In particular, in the drama screenplay, if one person asks, the next person answers. Is that really everyday? Often in our daily lives, there are times when we cannot answer because we are very happy, or because our mind is twisted or because we are suddenly stupid. Or by not answering or answering in vague words There is a drop in the flow of dialogue, and the audience is instantly puzzled. In other words, because the common sense of answering when asked is broken, it gives a rather fun and fresh sense. All of this is a leap forward.

It's a little different from hiding the lines. This leap forward conveys a very different feeling to the viewers. Common techniques are "No, what...", "It could be" By making ambiguous lines that are neither positive nor negative This is when you want to give something new. If you use these lines well, you can make a buzzword of a time. For example, "It's going well", "your body", "funny", and "go away" are all such leaps.

4. Lines to emphasize

Drama is useless if you don't know what's important. So, to have fun Somehow you have to make important lines in your impressions. One way to do this is to emphasize over and over again. "Would you like to go to Jeju Island?" "To Jeju Island?" It is emphasized by repeating it like this. This method is fully accepted and effective. "I'll give you this." "No? To me?" In this case, it is emphasized that something unexpected is guided by a special relationship. Another way to emphasize is settlement.

This is what part of the line is most appealing, It means putting the lines you want to convey the most in that part. Some lines are long and some are short, No matter how long or short, the most important thing is always at the end. In the words "I have work, come quickly", the key is "come quickly" The end of the line is a good place to say the conclusion you want to appeal. Therefore, the important line that I think you should know about this is that you should put it at the end of the line.

5. Dialogue with tempo and rhythm

Just as good words make people's minds easier, good lines must attract viewers. The basis for such a good dialogue is to give the dialogue itself a tempo and rhythm. If the dialogue is only explaining the story or the psychological description, Once you see the story, you know the character’s feelings, I don't want to see you again. However, even if you know everything about a good play or drama, you want to hear it again and see it. I enjoy watching musicals and operas many times. For example, Chunhyangjeon and Heungbujeon are stories we all know, The reason why the fun changes every time you make it is probably because of the charm of the lines with tempo and rhythm.

6. Confrontational dialogue

Just as a drama is made and progressed through confrontation (conflict), the dialogue is established through confrontation. "I'm against this thing" "No. I think it's time to do it" By confronting in this way, you can know the feeling or determination of the character. If so, I think that I always fight and only conflict does not last. In the context of the whole story, The use of this confrontational line is also the main force that guides the story, Conflicting lines in one situation enrich the story even more. Says the wife. "It's Sunday, and there's no way to keep my wife from boring?" "Is there any other way to avoid harassing my husband?" These lines are clearly contradicting, By expressing each position, not the lines of the encouraging of the conflict It becomes the line that makes the story that rich and interesting.

7. An emotional dialogue

It is said that there should be emotions in the lines, but this always sounds ridiculous. In most of our works, we can easily encounter lines without emotions. Why do I keep using such lines even though I think that lines without emotions are not allowed? Looking for the cause, The first is because they are obsessed with the subject and the story. As a result, this scene has a sense of mission that we have to say this. So, it becomes the result of saying what the artist wants to say by borrowing the mouth of the character to say it. Therefore, the artist's explanation does not enter the emotion.

The second reason is the habit of speaking abstractly. This is because when we think of things, we have a habit of presenting only with ideas. How tame we are in the abstraction of love and hope. There must be a way to express it in the dialogue specifically. The method released will be more diverse as you study it. Think about the use of warriors or props. The lines of these two causes are obviously hard and uninteresting lines.

Important emotions must permeate the lines. In our reality, emotions are moving even when we speak of explanations or abstract words. For example, enthusiasm (feeling) trying to explain this explanation as easily as possible Also, I think it's good and I spit out (emotion), because I respect, I despise it, because of self-interest... etc. All lines are coming out according to emotions. There is a desperate need for dialogue that comes from the person’s living emotions, not just the dialogue that is natural to write in the manuscript. This will be an important way to make dialogue interesting and dialogue-like.
